The relationship between God and science has always fascinated me. While many people tend to keep them totally separated by a massive brick wall, I believe they actually go hand in hand. Science is like the gateway to God’s handiwork. It’s peaking inside the studio of the Master Artist. It’s watching up close and personal as each splash of color is displayed, as each lump of clay is molded, and as each piece of thread is woven. It’s a VIP front row seat to each beautiful, symbiotic, functioning piece of creation.
From our amazing human bodies, to the vast mysterious galaxies all the way down to the tiniest microorganisms, each thing in our natural world is so intricately and perfectly designed and placed. For instance, just think of the sun. It’s existence and precise placement, means the difference between our very life and death. And obviously the sun isn’t the only natural factor that works to sustain human life. There’s a plethora of different components. But without the breath of life, there is no enjoying life.
I thank God regularly for the earth He created for us. As one who truly appreciates art, I never want to take all of His wonderful details for granted. He’s given us so much that there will always be more hidden treasures and mysteries to discover and explore. Just ponder for a moment on the majesty of humpback whales, the uniqueness of individual snowflakes and on the various shades of color found in a beautiful summer sunset. There is simply no way this could have ever happened “by accident.” Even some of the most renowned scientists and physicists are now admitting evidence points toward intelligent design rather than chance. After all, in order for us to exist, we had to have been created by something that requires no creation itself and we exist, right? Believing that life happened by chance is the same thing as believing that a watch has no watchmaker. I know, we’ve all heard that analogy before, but it’s so very true.
My favorite quote is “If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change. ” Look around you. Every thing in the natural came first from the supernatural. God spoke this world into existence. That in and of itself is a miracle, let alone all life includes! Isn’t He absolutely amazing?
Now, let’s do a fun little exercise.
Choose one thing in nature that you’ve always been interested in and GOOGLE it! Learn the in’s and out’s of what that particular thing requires in order to function properly. It will be a fresh reminder of how detailed our God is and of how much He loves us. : )
